Becoming and being a parent can be the most rewarding job we have. It can also be the most challenging and emotionally painful work we do. On a practical level, there are times we don’t know how to approach an obstacle we have with our children, like how to encourage them to follow directions, or how to calm down after a temper tantrum, or even how to handle what feels like power-struggles over food. Even more confusing is how to free ourselves and our children from patterns and projections we carry from our past. Not only are these situations challenging in themselves, but especially when we don’t know the right tools to use, and they can evoke strong emotions in us, triggering our own trauma.
Having some outside, objective support, coaching and training around interventions to use, and assistance on how to untangle the dynamics, patterns and projections, can be priceless. It’s an investment in creating the joy and happiness we all long for in our homes, with our families.
I have worked with families in crisis for many years. Working with families in reunification, and in family therapy. In the past I offered PCIT (Parent Child Interactive Therapy), and more recently I have been diving into the principles of Positive Parenting Solutions). I have a family of my own, so on a personal level, I understand the challenges of raising children and some of the issues that can create strife and discord in the home. Having professional support, especially during these stressful and critical times can empower you as a parent to reduce the emotional stress in the home, and help you and your family deepen the love and connection we all strive for.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch and schedule an appointment if this sounds like the kind of support you and your family can benefit from.
